Lucid is a calm, scientific way to track your cognition over time. Eight minutes a day. Six dimensions. One quiet record.
Most cognitive apps either train you or test you. Lucid measures you, the way Strava measures your running or Oura measures your sleep. Brief daily activities. Trends across six dimensions of cognitive function. Weekly digests written for you, not for an algorithm.
Designed for adults who pay attention to their bodies and would like the same relationship with their minds.
By the time a memory clinic confirms what families and individuals suspect, the most useful window for action has often passed.
Seven million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's today. The number reaches thirteen million by 2050. Pre-symptomatic decline affects three to five times more. The clinical infrastructure to catch this early simply does not scale: fifteen thousand geriatricians serve fifty-six million older adults.
Meanwhile, the people closest to us notice changes years before any test catches them. They have nowhere to put what they notice. No record. No way to know whether what they are seeing is real or worth attention.
Lucid exists to give that observation a home. Not as a medical device. As a thoughtful, longitudinal record of how a mind works over time.
A few activities each day, chosen to fit your mood. Patterns build slowly. Insights arrive when they have something to say.
Voice journaling, a quick cognitive game, a drawing exercise, a short reflection. Four activities, never more, curated to your patterns. You pick what feels right.
Sleep, walking pace, heart rate variability, hearing exposure, mood. Whatever you already share with Apple Health flows in quietly, used only to make your trends more accurate.
A short editorial summary of what we observed. What was steady. What shifted. What might be worth noticing, never alarming. Written for a thoughtful adult.
Most apps in this space are either clinical and cold, or playful and shallow. Lucid is built on a different set of assumptions.
We are not here to make your brain faster. We are here to give you an honest, longitudinal record of how your cognition is actually working over time, across six dimensions. Training apps gamify. Lucid documents.
Voice, video, games, drawing, reading, recall, motor coordination, social cognition. Thirty-plus activity types feeding six cognitive dimensions, combined with passive signals from Apple Health, Oura, Whoop, and continuous glucose monitors.
Voice recordings, journal entries, videos, drawings: they stay on your device, always. Only derived patterns reach our servers. Genetic data, if you share it, never leaves your phone. The privacy story is the product.
If you invite a family member, they receive a gentle monthly check-in. Their observations of you become part of your trends. You see everything they share. Optional, transparent, never used as surveillance.
"Cognitive data is among the most personal information you can record. We built Lucid so it can never be otherwise."
No single activity tells the whole story. We measure across the breadth of what cognitive science actually understands.
Episodic, working, prospective, associative, autobiographical.
Sustained, selective, divided. The kind you bring, the kind you must hold.
Vocabulary, fluency, syntactic complexity, word-finding.
Reaction time, throughput, articulation rate.
Inhibition, switching, planning, working memory.
Drawing, spatial navigation, rotation, perception.
Most apps treat privacy as a policy. We treat it as architecture. The difference shows up in what we can and cannot see, even if we wanted to.
The reason Lucid can make these promises is architectural. Audio, video, and journal content are processed locally on your phone. Features (numbers describing patterns) are what sync to your account. The raw content remains where you created it.
The same applies to genetic data. If you upload your raw 23andMe or AncestryDNA file, it is read and processed on your device. We see context, not your genome.
Lucid is not HIPAA-regulated because we are not a covered entity. We hold ourselves to HIPAA-aligned security practices anyway.
A seven-day free trial. No tricks. The annual plan saves about a third. The family plan covers two people who share insights with each other.
Lucid is not a medical device. We do not diagnose, detect, screen for, or treat any medical condition. If you have specific health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare provider.
Lucid is the work of a founder who watched his own family navigate cognitive change without good tools, and decided to build them.
Lucid was founded by Patrick Sullivan, whose twenty-year career spans mission-driven organizations including REI, Whole Foods, Cascade Designs (where he launched a global health and WASH division), and Pallet PBC. He has spent his career building things that matter to people who are not the loudest or the wealthiest.
Lucid is built on AI as a multiplier rather than venture-scale headcount. The product, the design, and most of the engineering are produced by a small team using Claude as a collaborator. Domain expertise comes from years of work in mission-driven and health-adjacent organizations. The team will grow when traction justifies it, not before.

"Your memory dimension has been steady for three weeks" beats "things are looking good."
No exclamation points. No celebration without earning it. Even good news, delivered calmly.
We never inflate good news. We never sugarcoat real changes. Trust depends on it.
Same tone for good news and concerning news. This is what trust sounds like.
If yours isn't here, write to hello@lucidhealth.app. We answer everything within a few days, sometimes faster.
No. Lucid is a wellness app. We measure patterns in your cognition over time and show you trends. We do not diagnose, detect, screen for, or treat any medical condition. If you have specific health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare provider.
Those are brain training apps. They claim to improve cognition through games. Lucid measures cognition. The activities are designed to reveal patterns, not to train you. Most importantly, we generate longitudinal trends across six cognitive dimensions, not just scores on individual games.
Platform features rely on passive sensing in the background. Lucid is an active engagement product. You spend a few minutes a day doing things that produce richer, more specific data than passive sensing alone can collect. They are complements, not competitors.
You don't have to. Your raw data never leaves your device. We can't read your journal entries or hear your voice recordings even if we wanted to. Only derived patterns sync to your account, and you can delete everything at any time. The architecture is the answer, not the policy.
Yes. Lucid works on iPhone alone. Connecting Apple Health, Oura, Whoop, or other data sources makes your trends more accurate but is never required. The core experience stands on the active activities.
You miss a few days. Lucid is built for years, not streaks. The trend computation is robust to gaps. There are no shame mechanics, no flame icons, no "don't break your streak" notifications. Come back when you come back.
